I bring this to you today because it is thrifty! Take a look at these ingredients, and if you keep frozen shredded cheese in your freezer for easy retrieval, you already have all the components. Now, this recipe does contain beer, so you may want to create this for your loved one first! Or, replace that beer with milk and you have a whole family treat.
4 cups grated sharp cheddar
2 tbs. flour
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. paprika
1 cup beer
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 eggs
16 slices toasted French bread
In a bowl toss cheese with flour, dry mustard, and paprika. In a saucepan heat beer with Worcestershire sauce until bubbles appear. Don't boil! Add cheese a little at a time, stirring constantly. Keep stirring continuously until all the cheese has melted and the mixture is smooth. In a small bowl, beat eggs and add 2 tbs. cheese sauce to warm eggs. Then add egg mixture to cheese and stir quickly until smooth and glossy. About one minute. Keep warm and spoon over toasted bread. You can cut this recipe in half if there are only two of you.
