I offer you my most humble Monday morning breakfast before the start of the school week. This quick, and easy delight can be made six or more in advance and frozen individually with wax paper then placed in a zip lock bag. I start with is Aldi's sausage roll, 12 oz., for only $1.29. I cut the roll into eight even slices using two rounds for each sandwich. These rounds are placed on a baking sheet in the freezer and then popped into bags for future Mondays!
I came up with the recipe due to the large amount of bagels I receive in my monthly food pantry bag. By quickly freezing them, I can easily take one out, slice it and apply the following fixings in minutes.
2 pre-sliced, frozen rounds of sausage
1 slice of American cheese
1 bagel of choice
Place the frozen sausage rounds in the toaster oven and set on 450 for 15 minutes. Take out bagel from freezer and leave on counter to defrost.
When sausages are done, take out and cut horizontally making two rounds for each sausage. Place four rounds on bagel and top with cheese. Wrap in wax paper and microwave for 30 seconds.
