This recipe comes from my good friend Maryanne who gathers all those delightful grandchildren around her holiday table to make these treats to bag and take home. No matter the age, young or small, these treats turn out golorious each time because even a three year told can twist!
6 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
4 eggs
1/2 tsp. red food coloring (or more if you want a rich color)
Beat oil and sugar together. Add eggs then dry ingredients. Split dough in half. Using one have the dough stir/knead in food coloring. Begin making ropes of each the same size. Twist to make candy cane and shape. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
